KOREAN PHONE MAKER Samsung outed the Galaxy Core LTE smartphone on Monday, complete with ageing specifications.
The Samsung Galaxy Core LTE that likely will debut at next week's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona doesn't have too much to offer. Samsung has configured the smartphone with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, Google's backlevel Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean mobile operating system and a low-end 4.5in 540x950 resolution LCD display, likely to keep the handset as affordable as possible.
That said, Samsung has been keen to talk up the handset's 4G connectivity, with the firm boasting that the device supports LTE Category 4 networks. This means that despite its budget appearance the handset will be capable of reaching download speeds of up to 150Mbps.
Samsung said in a blog post, "Samsung Electronics announced the Samsung Galaxy Core LTE, designed to offer users an optimized and enhanced performance, a premium design and a wealth of innovative smart features made popular by flagship Galaxy devices.
"Backed by an advanced LTE experience, this device can operate seamlessly and effectively across all aspects of a user's life."
That's not all the phone has to offer. The Samsung Galaxy Core LTE features a 5MP autofocus camera with flash, a VGA front-facing camera, 8GB or internal storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD card and a 2,100mAh battery. Samsung's Touchwiz user interface is onboard too, equipping the device with its custom apps such as Chaton, S Voice and Samsung Apps.
There's no word on pricing or a UK release date, but Samsung has said that it will release the handset in Europe
