Can new Angry Birds game ease your Flappy Birds pain?

Stella! You might not have thought app developer Rovio had any more angry birds left in its cage, but it's found some for Angry Birds: Stella, due to be released this fall.

Angry Birds
The new Angry Birds game due out this fall might not be exactly what the gaming world needs, but at least it'll take some attention off Flappy Birds.

With an Angry Birds stable that already features Rio, space, seasons, Friends, Star Wars, and Star Wars II -- not to mention the spinoff Bad Piggies -- you wouldn't think there'd be much room left to fit in more feathers. Alas, the company seems committed to keeping its promise "to continue expanding Angry Birds to make it a permanent part of popular culture."
This time, a lady bird will take center stage in a game called Angry Birds: Stella, due to be released this fall. The developers seem to be taking a bit of an "empowering women" approach to the game, with Thursday's statement noting that "Angry Birds Stella is all about inspiration, empowerment, and other real issues, without forgetting entertainment and quirky fun."
Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Entertainment adds: "Angry Birds Stella is breaking the mold by introducing strong, passionate characters who really stand for something, while adding plenty of action and reality into the mix."
He also indicated that Stella and her friends are going to be even more ubiquitous than the other Angry Birds already are. "The Angry Birds Stella story will live and evolve across physical and digital, bridging them in fun and innovative ways," he said. "Stella and her friends are here to stay, with plenty of adventures ahead of them."
Oh good.
I'm not sure the world really needs another Angry Birds spinoff, but the one good thing about news of the release is that it could ease the world's apparent agony over Flappy Birds being grounded, thus bringing that game's creator a little more of the peace he's seeking.
Oh, and Rovio? I've got a suggestion for your next title: Angry Birds: Jumping the Shark.
