Ahead of this month's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, LG today unwrapped its G Pro 2 smartphone, which will launch first in Korea.

A follow-up to last year's LG Optimus G Pro, the next-generation device boasts a larger 5.9-inch full HD IPS display, extra-slim 3.3mm bezel, and a screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2 percent.
The phablet-sized device also offers a unique twist on the typical power-up and unlocking process. LG engineers have developed a new feature called Knock Code, which makes unlocking the G Pro 2 more convenient. Using one of LG's 86,367 "knock" combinations, owners can simply tap two to eight times anywhere on the screen to unlock the gadget.
The feature is an evolution of the KnockON function originally available on the G2, and one of LG's attempts at making its smartphone more accessible to consumers.

"We think customers will agree."
Among those features are an enhanced 13-megapixel camera with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) and advanced sharing options, as well as Content Lock for better security, the Mini View shrunken display, and dual browsing.
The G Pro 2 also includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB DDR3 RAM, 16GB or 32GB of memory, and a microSD slot, a 3,200mAh removable battery, Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, NFC support, and Android 4.4 KitKat.
More details about a global launch are expected at MWC, which starts Feb. 23.
The LG G Pro 2's predecessor, the Optimus G Pro, is available exclusively on AT&T for $199.99 with a two-year service contract.
Also expected to be on display at MWC is LG's Mini—presumably a smaller version of its upcoming G Pro 2. The company teased the device in a Facebook photo (above) captioned, "Experience the MINI."
