Shadow of Mordor's 'Nemesis System' detailed in crazy gameplay trailer, plus screenshots

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is one heck of a puzzle. Games attached to the Lord of the Rings franchise in he past have often been surprisingly high-quality, but rarely have they been planned as anything beyond average title, though over-achievers at that. Shadow of Mordor, however, looks very high quality visually. Is this the game that builds Lord of the Rings into a relevent next-gen franchise?

In addition to the impressive graphics is Shadow of Mordor's biggest feature, the Nemesis System. With the Nemesis System enemies that the player fights throughout the game will reappear in elevated positions and remember fighting the player. The player will hunt these enemies down, climbing a ladder of orcs and other baddies, or at least so it seems from this new official trailer we've been provided.
All in all Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor looks ... interesting. The Nemesis System certainly looks unique and exciting to play around with, but naturally a full game would need more depth and so there's hopefully more to show of Shadow of Mordor in the months ahead. The action game is planned for release in 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
